Norma Groover Jaime, 99, died on Saturday, January 13, 2024, in Washington, North Carolina where she had been living with family for a year and six months. Previously, Norma had resided on Wilmington Island, Georgia for over 50 years where she worked in banking for C&S National Bank and served as organist for First Baptist Church of the Islands.

Norma was born in Ludowici, Georgia, to James and Nina (Gordon) Groover on November 7, 1924. She attended Long County schools and Brewton Parker Junior College. On July 4, 1942, she married John Jaime of Ellsworth, Pennsylvania. Married for 75 years, they had four children, ten grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Norma is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Gerry and Vartan Arakelian of Chocowinity, North Carolina, and her daughter Paulette Lanier of North Augusta, South Carolina. Also celebrating her life will be grandchildren Dan Arakelian, Brian Arakelian, Kristie Adams, Shannon Bowling, Traci Trombley, Jeff Jaime and MaryAnn Seginack and their families.

A visitation will be from 10:00 till 11:00, Saturday, January 20, 2024, followed by a funeral at 11:00, at the Islands Chapel of the Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors. The burial will take place at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests you consider a donation in Norma’s memory to First Baptist Church of the Islands, 6613 Johnny Mercer Blvd, Savannah, GA 31410.
